Culture Medicine of the Spirits
“The colonizer did not simply design an education system. They designed an education especially to destroy Indigenous cultures, value systems and appearance.”
Linda Tuhiwai Smith

There were many considerations for me to determine what I would write about when I first started thinking about writing a book. Writing a book did not come to me until much later in life. It was not the uppermost on my mind until I gained a firm education. Like others, I was inspired to write about the events of my life. The inspiration gained from others, who expressed real feelings about their areas of expertise.
My inspiration to write about the things in life was an instinctive need to express things that are meaningful to me. The more I came to see, learn, and become aware of other Native Americans in the past and presented in ways other than the manner they have been historically and now. I realized that many Native American authors have written about such personal events. I feel that it is important for American Indian people to define and share our culture and tribal ways.
